Unemployment Assistance During the Pandemic: What Missouri Artists and Creative Workers Need to Know

Self-employed artists, freelancers, independent contractors and gig workers whose businesses have been impacted by the coronavirus are applying for — and are now receiving — unemployment benefits. Under the CARES Act, those who qualify may be eligible for weekly benefits ranging from $133 to $320 per week, plus a $600 weekly federal supplement.

Attorney Tim Mooney (above) provided a step-by-step guide to the application process on April 22, 2020. More than 60 artists attended the free webinar.

Tim’s PowerPoint presentation provides community education on the existing and new unemployment benefits during the COVID-19 pandemic, and does not constitute legal advice or guidance. Also, the unemployment benefits landscape continues to change, so this presentation cannot be relied on as the final word on how benefits will be determined or administered.
