Nathaniel Carroll
Executive Director
Nathaniel Carroll, Executive Director, joined VLAA in 2025. He spent the previous five years working at Arch City Defenders, where he litigated class action civil rights cases and provided holistic legal care to indigent and unhoused individuals. Carroll holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Drury University and obtained his J.D. from Saint Louis University Law School in 2014, where he was one of the managing editors of the SLU Law Journal of Health Law & Policy. In 2015, Carroll received the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis Young Lawyer’s Award of Merit, and he is included in the association’s Pro Bono Hall of Fame. Carroll is also a lifelong DIY musician and songwriter, performing hundreds of shows as Nathaniel Carroll & the Party Line across the U.S. since 2003. His second album, “Imposter”, was released in 2025. He is a proud parent of three artful children.
Marissa Camp
Associate Director
Born and raised in Ferguson, Camp holds a BA in studio art with a certificate in illustration from Webster University. She works in a wide variety of media, including digital and traditional illustration, cyanotype printing, letterpress printing, sculpture, and ceramics. In 2022, Camp participated in the Regional Arts Commission’s Gyo Obata Fellowship program. At the time, the 10-week paid summer program targeted undergraduates from backgrounds traditionally underrepresented in arts administration. Camp was placed at Central Print, where she got hands-on experience in marketing, event planning, and donor relations. Camp joined the VLAA staff in 2025.
Arkayla TH
Community Engagement Consultant
Arkayla TH is a writer and communications consultant that uses the power of stories to build communities. She has worked with 30+ nonprofits and small businesses, helping shape their storytelling and community engagement practice. From advocacy campaigns to close down juvenile detention centers to websites that sell fresh fruit juices, Arkayla uses stories to connect people to her clients' work. Being from St. Louis, most of her work has an activism lens– whether it's a small business or major nonprofit, she believes in collaborating with clients to create a more liberated world. Arkayla recently published her first poetry collection, If Feelings Could Speak, and hosts a variety of journaling workshops to support everyone in harnessing the power of journaling and seeing their journals as art.
Scott Miller
Summer Associate Program Director
Scott Miller, an amazing volunteer, has served as our Summer Associate Program Director since 2016. He was an in-house attorney at Anheuser-Busch Companies for more than 19 years before he retired.
Sue Greenberg
Executive Director Emeritus
Sue Greenberg, Executive Director Emeritus, led VLAA from 1986 through 2025. During the summer, she also worked at The Muny (from 1982 to 2021), first as a stage manager and then as company manager. Sue also taught legal issues in the arts for Webster University’s Arts Leadership graduate program from 1991 to 2021. She is a graduate of Washington University, where she majored in Art History and Urban Studies. Sue received the Missouri Arts Council Leadership in the Arts award in 2025, the Arts and Education Council Champion for the Arts award in 2019, a St. Louis Bar Foundation Spirit of Justice Award in 2017, a Kick-Ass Award in 2012, and a St. Louis Visionary Award in 2008.
