AI Shakespeare

To prepare for the artificial intelligence (AI) and copyright program, which we co-presented at the High Low on March 21, we asked free ChatGPT to generate Shakespeare sonnets about artists in St. Louis who are worried about AI co-opting their work. We selected this one from among 18 choices to share with our audience:

In St. Louis, where the artists’ hearts reside,
A shadow looms, casting fears aside,
For in the rise of A.I., they see,
A threat to their works’ integrity.

From painters who weave colors on the canvas bright,
To poets who craft verses in the quiet of the night,
Their creations, born from passion’s flame,
Now face the risk of being claimed by another’s name.

With each stroke of the brush, each word they write,
They pour their soul into their art with all their might,
But as algorithms learn and mimic their style,
Their copyrights hang in the balance, fragile.

Yet amidst their fears, they stand tall and bold,
Their creativity, a story yet untold,
For in St. Louis, where the artists thrive,
Their voices echo, keeping their dreams alive.
