SBA Paycheck Protection Program (PPP)
Starting today, certain nonprofits and small businesses can apply for the Small Business Administration PPP to cover payroll and other expenses. A portion of the loans may be eligible for forgiveness if the borrower retains its workers and doesn’t cut their wages. You can apply through most banks and other participating SBA lenders. Demand is expected to exceed available funding, and lenders are scrambling to get their systems in place. So keep in touch with your bank, continue to monitor the bank’s site for updates and start working on the application form.

Unemployment Benefits
Although the federal relief bill includes new eligibility for part-time workers, self-employed, gig workers, independent contractors and freelancers, it could take weeks (or longer) until Missouri and Illinois are ready to start processing those claims.

Art is Us
Cancellations and closures are keeping us from gathering but can’t diminish the crucial role of artmaking and connecting with audiences. We asked Chris Clark, artistic director, Cinema St. Louis, for a favorite online art experience: “Even though I primarily work with film and filmmakers, I still love and admire all types of art. I’m a big fan now of virtual museum tours, especially in far flung cities around the world that I may never get to visit in person, including the National Gallery at Victoria in Melbourne, Australia.” Do you have a recommendation?
