WHY BUILD AN ARTIST WEBSITE
You might not think that a website is necessary. But according to Fractured Atlas blogger Nina Berman, websites offer unique benefits.
THERE HAS TO BE A BETTER WAY TO DO THIS
Actors who are already struggling with unemployment are now facing lost health insurance. That’s because they must work a minimum number of weeks in order to qualify for coverage — even though producers make weekly payments into their union’s insurance fund on their behalf. This Chicago Tribune article makes a strong case for reimagining this broken system.
BEFORE YOU VOTE…
Instead of voting “no,” “yes,” or not all, learn about the judges who are on the November 3 ballot. The Judicial Performance Review Committee — a statewide panel of lawyers, non-lawyers and retired judges — reviews the performance of each judge. The committee considers lawyers’ and jurors’ ratings and written opinions, and then determines whether the judges substantially meet overall judicial performance review standards. For quick reference, check out the St. Louis City and St. Louis County landing pages or you can read all of the reviews.

ART IS US
Dance the Vote, a nonpartisan arts initiative spearheaded by Joan Lipkin, That Uppity Theatre Company, and Ashley Tate, Ashleyliane Dance Company, has been working on several projects to promote voter participation: A “Make Good Trouble” collegiate competition is inviting students to post multi-media, images, videos, music, dance, painting, sculpture, poetry, or other artistic expressions inspired by John Lewis’s legacy. A video series features choreographers and dancers from diverse backgrounds. The recently released fifth episode showcases the work of Nai-Ni Chen and Mario Harris.
